Service:
Very Friendly, professional and well staffed. The owner (Mr Tim
Guthrie) and his daughter acting as Maitre'd do an excellent job.
Wine
List:
Good, and some very
well know labels. I tried the Pencarrow Pinot Noir 2004. A bit young
but still very good.
Value for Money:
My dining partner(accountant)
and I had entree, main course and desert and a good bottle of Pencarrow
Pinot Noir and finished with an excellent Desert wine, a Brown Brothers
Muscat Flora 05 most excellent. You would be looking at the thick
end of $160 for both.
Presentation
The main course was the steak done to perfection and aged for about
3 weeks plus. The desert was a Baklava
?? a crispy sweet pastry and ice cream. Over all the food quality
and presentation was quite good. As normal prices are higher than
the Gold Coast but it was good dinning.
Ambience:
This is a better class suburban restaurant,
not too noisy and very friendly. Open fire (well kinda open) having
tables near the men's toilet was a bit much. In summer their out
side dinning is well worth the trip to Sumner. Its a village like
atmosphere and you can light up a cigar in the outside dinning without
being thrown out.
The feel good
factor:
It was a warm friendly Kiwi restaurant with
good food, good wine. Did my dinning partner and I enjoy the experience
! Yes. Although I think summer dining would be much better. I will
award a 4 glass rating.

Highly Recommended
