Service:
Order from the counter. The waitress was very pleasant. This is
very much a pub grub restaurant. I presented my business card early
(normally I do not do this, and only present my card after I have
paid my account) The chief came to my table and introduced himself.
I asked what his signature dish was he said it was the Goose bay
fillet. So I ordered. I asked how long it has been aged, he just
looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. This is going to be interesting
I thought to myself. The steak arrived as ordered, very rare and
nearly blue, something NZ chefs do better than some Ozzie chefs.
The sauce it appears to have been cooked with the steak till it
had caramelised to a black hard glue and in places quite solid.
It was a Saturday night I was hungry enough to eat a dead horse
and running out of time. I would have normally have sent it back.
Wine List:
Good, and some very
well know labels.
Value for Money:
I had a quick look
over the menu. NZ prices are dearer than Australian restaurants
by and large. I would look at other restaurants as I am sure there
are others with much better value.
Ambience:
A pub restaurant, not
crowded and not much atmosphere.
The feel good
factor:
Not much, I will be
looking around.

I will not be
back
