Service:
A very pleasant greeting from waitress at the check in. When dining
it was nice to see that the waitresses going past the table eye
checked to see if everything was right, that plates needed taking
away or that I had an empty glass, stopped to ask if I needed a
replacement even though the waitress was not serving my table. How
many occassions have you been in a restaurant and you try to catch
the eye of the staff and they walk right past!
Presentation:
The Menu was reasonably good, taking into consideration that this
was a small village restaurant but did bring in a lot of customers
from out of town. I personally live in an area full of Asian dining
and wanted some genuine Kiwi food. Not being too hungry I chose
Seafood Chowder(11.00), which was very generous portion but a little
on the thin side with not much fishy bits as I am generally used
to chowder of the thicker consistency. I chose a light main and
had a good ole steak hotpot ($14) which was very tasty and ideal
for my appetite. I must remark if you are very hungry this is the
place to come as some of the other tables were being served very
generous delicious plates. Generally mains were in the high twenty
dollar range. The place itself is very modern and as stated before
very busy so booking at weekends a good idea. Desserts looked delicious
but I refrained tonight.
Wine List:
This seemed to be a moderate but well presented wine list. When
I see it, not often, I go straight for Montrose Mugee Black Shiraz.
I had two glasses at $7.00 each
Value for
Money:
If you are hungry and want Kiwi based food but well presented come
here. As advised by my colleague to get the same equivalent to Australian
dining, you DO have to pay in the area of 20%
extra in New Zealand.
Ambience:
A modern restaurant/bar in a small village out of town but looked
to have very good patronage.
The feel
good factor:
A much nicer place to be than some of the inner city restaurants
and I was made to feel welcome

I'll be back and
make sure that I'm hungry!
