On street parking, this
is Sumner so there is plenty around but maybe not in the summer.
(20 min drive from the heart of Christchurch city).

Service:
One waitress working very hard, she was friendly but had a lot to
do. Later found out she was a part owner. This may explain why the
downstairs barman all but dragged me through the front doors while
I was reading the outside menu. He was the other owner. His opening
phrase was " if you don't like the food there is no charge
" errr sure :--)
Wine List:
Was quite good and some very well know brands.
I ordered their house Riesling which was good (as usual forgot to
make not of label) I must admit they do pour a VERY generous glass
of wine.
Value for Money:
I ordered the Penne Salmon with lime. The
service was a bit slow and when my Pasta arrived it was lemon and
not limes and a few more capers would have been nice the portion
was very large. The salmon was very good and the sauce a little
more runny then expected. My dining partner ordered the chicken
liver Salad. It was excellent, and yes I do eat off other people
plates. Was
it good value, average at best.
Ambience:
There was open fire and therefore, I was sold,
very warm and the best description I can give is old, rustic and
a little sparse.
The feel good
factor:
It was basic, and interesting. Heaps of space
for entertainment and a revamped menu would make it a must see in
Christchurch.
