Where

655 Pages Rd, New Brighton |

Parking: Off street parking. And plenty of it. |
Service:
Raewyne our waitress was also the owner in this very family orientated restaurant. Although Robbie’s is a franchise the owners have put some flair and a bit of their own personality into the restaurant. It was lunch time and there was plenty of space to find a table near the fire. The service was very good and professional.
Presentation:
The menu was a real down to earth family affair, there was nothing that grabbed your senses or inclinations but what they did have was well balanced and adequate. I ordered the garlic prawns, they arrived on a bed of rice and not over powered by garlic and just a little underdone as seafood should be. My dining colleague had the good old New Zealand pumpkin soup. Very thick, but could have done with a few more herbs. The main course of a $12.00 steak was not bad at all, could have done with a bit more ageing but over all very good value.
Wine List:
A very good selections of N.Z wines, nothing too international. However offering every wine on their wine list by the glass is brilliant. If you are not a wine connoisseur, it certainly is a way to try many NZ wines each time you visit an establishment.
Value for Money:
If you’re planning a dinner out with the family and all the rellies I do not think you could find better. This is not Haute Cuisine but it is very good value. As far as pub grub goes it is one of the best.
Ambience:
Nothing too exciting but clean and tidy, and open fire which is always a must in winter.
The feel good
factor:
For a family restaurant it was quite good. The value was excellent. For this category of restaurant, I do not think you could do much better.
