Restaurant:
Palm Court

Booking:
Unnecessary6
Where to Find:
Pacific Dawn P& O Cruise, Australia

Service:
Absolutely outstanding how they can handle close to 1000 people in the Palm Court restaurant, it is beyond my comprehension however they do it and do it very well, our waiters on our voyage were Zoheb Balbale and Mohamad Kuluhuddin

Presentation:

Again outstanding, when you think of the numbers that they have to serve each day the presentation and food quality was extremely good. An example of the very comprehensive menu (which changes every few days) would be "Mustard and sesame served Ahi turner loin with pickled cucumber and radish salad" some of the mains which I sampled were "Basil marinated grilled prawns", "Braised lamb shank with soft blue cheese polenta". The Roasted young darkling and cabernet and current sauce was outstanding.

Wine List

Reasonably comprehensive with mostly Australian wines. A good selection, prices were reasonable.

Value for Money:
When you consider the price of the cruise and all meals included plus the quality of food and presentation it's nothing short of outstanding.

Ambience:
A mix between modern and art deco, add this to great views of the ocean and it makes a great dinning experience.

The feel good factor:
You really have to experience it to enjoy it, I have to give it an 8/10 on the feel good factor. They do have another restaurant on board, the Salt Grill, however I really think it was somewhat pretentious, an example was breakfast a "Homemade baked beans with ham hock, with baked eggs and toasted rye", it was fried eggs served on a pan with masses of baked beans .Other breakfast delights were "per sea caviar on brioche with poached eggs and chives hollandaise". The two night's we dined their I tried the lobster tail grilled with Moroccan spices, it was more like a large king prawn on steroids and not much else, on another night I had a fillet stake rare with Bearnaise sauce ( minus the Tarragon and Vinegar, I guess someone forgot ?).

Very posh over the top menu with a very average result, not to mention a $40 per head cover charge. I highly recommend you stay with the Palm Court.
