Service:
Excellent with a father/owner/chef and his daughter, who is a delightful young girl. More staff on busy nights..
Presentation:
Beautiful as only the Japanese can do. Eating is always akin to a ceremony
. Wine List:
BYO, and a list if not. We took our own bottle of saki which they heat and serve
Value for
Money:
Very good, we had Butsugiri, (marinated tuna cubes with avocado, sea plants, wasabi and Japanese mayonnaise) $14 - Agadashi (fried silky tofu with a delicious crab sauce $10 - Yakizakan (flamed grilled fillet of the fish of the day garnished with carrot, cliced egg, mushroom and tomato /$12.50. The main was Tokyo Duck (roasted marinated duck breast) $19 - Never having tried it before we then had a small Wagyu beef dish - $28. Crispy on the outside and beautifully presented. So different and the marbled fat when cooked is like silk on the tongue. For me quite rich, but a real treat.
Ambiance:
Simple decor, iris artwork on the walls and carpeted. There is a sushi bar as well. Cloth napkins and beautiful serving dishes. The music albeit quiet did not really suit the restaurant but maybe that's my personal taste. I would love to hear some music from Japan to complete the picture.
The feel
good factor:
Friendly, smart casual. I have been there twice now...once for a lunch. Then they have a business lunch special which was plenty of food for $23 pp. I will return. I give it 4 wine glasses.
