Service:
Very good service that was prompt and friendly. The food was served
hot and fresh.
Presentation:
Typical Chinese style cuisine. We do give them a "thumbs up"
for having nice chopsticks instead of the cheap pull apart wooden
chopsticks.
We ordered the Vegetable Spring Rolls and Chinese Short Soup as
our appetisers. The Spring Rolls were very tasty, but the dipping
sauce was out-of-the-can ordinary. The Spring Rolls are much better
on their own with no sauces, having them "au natural".
Our Chinese Short Soup was EXCELLENT. It is as good as any you can
find in Hong Kong.
For our Main Courses we ordered the Combination Omelette, Honey
Chicken, Steak and Black Bean Sauce. Let us tell you about the Combination
Omelette and Steak and Black Bean Sauce first. We thought both dishes
were VERY GOOD. Both dishes had flavours that were clean and fresh.
One thing we noticed was that neither dish was overwhelmed with
vegetables, like so many restaurants do to save on costs. Another
"thumbs up" for having the highlighted ingredients as
the major portion of the dish.
The Honey Chicken was also VERY GOOD. It was not overly sweet as
you find with this dish in so many restaurants. The chicken was
freshly cooked and was a good balance to the other main dishes.
Wine List:
The Wine List is nothing fancy, but it is good for a family style
restaurant. We brought our own wine and the corkage fee is $2 per
person. We do not like this new way to subterfuge money from patrons
so that is a "Thumbs Down" from us.
Value for
Money:
Our rating is 3 glasses. The cost for the three of us averaged $18.40
per person. Really good value for money, especially with the food
being plentiful in amount and quality. If you are looking for a
family place to go, this is a good bet.
Ambience:
Both Lummy's and Q Center have undergone a major renovation. The
old interior of Lummy's was the dark red so popular with Chinese
restaurants. Now Lummy's is overly bright and modern. Nevertheless,
Lummy's does have a VERY GOOD Family Ambience:.
The feel
good factor:
It is a very clean restaurant, but just too bright for night-time
relaxing. The servers are very friendly and attentive to your needs.
The only drawback was the Broadway show tunes playing in the background,
we were hoping for nice relaxing music, not the loud vocal of Phantom
of the Opera.
