UPDATE 6/01/07

"A Poseur Paradise"
It was not my plan to return to Andiamo after my first visit. However because of unforeseen circumstances we ended up at Andiamo. Firstly I must admit they found a seat for us but that is where the kudos stops. The manager Mr Thambiayah was keen to see my review and I believe he would like to make improvements.
Reported to be a top class restaurant is a major over statement. So lets work through this, the chairs are uncomfortable and hard and white paper table cloths for a premium restaurants !( Errr I do not think so )

The place is VERY noisy, you just can't have a private quiet conversation. The ambiance is more like a café with an attempt to introduce some second class art pieces, it just does not work.

The service was poor, the waiter was pleasant but had little idea about the menu. Clearing off the bread and butter plates before we were finished was another thing. Food, lets just use the term minimal.

The minestrone soup was just average. I ordered a fillet steak blue it arrived at best rare, for the prices I was paying I sent it back. It arrived back blue and excellent I ask the waiter how long it was aged, he did not know that steaks were aged. I asked about the cheese board he did not have a clue. What I did find out was that it mainly consisted of a Bluevein and some sort of Brie.

This is a Top restaurant !!! ( please give me a break ) The Andiamo is a great place for the for the poseur and spives. If you want to go to some great restaurants with top service click here and here. At the prices they charge I suggest you go someplace else for a better dinning experience

Service:

Without making a booking on a Saturday night they were able to find a table for me without too much fuss. The maitre'd was very professional and the waitress who served me was just as professional, very friendly and made you feel very comfortable. Over all excellent.

Presentation:
Adequate at best. I ordered from the black board special a Penne Pasta, which I considered over spiced with Basil and I was hard put to find any of the so called chicken. At $22.00 it was just adequate and nothing more. The Mediterranean Salad was just plain boring and near tasteless. It should have been part of the meal but they charged $10.00 for it. For desert the Rum Dipped Savocardi Biscuits (it was just Tiramisu with a different name) was OK

Wine List:
Excellent choice, some very well know names. Accompanied with suitable up market price tag.
I had the Alkoomi Sauvignon Blanc (very nice indeed)

Value for Money:
My rating 2 glass (just) not what I call value
for money. A quick scan of the Mains and a quick look at the other patrons mains being served and I would say over priced.

Ambience:
Very bright and very loud from the music downstairs. A quite conversation is out of the question. Lots of very glamorous young ladies escorted by dashing young men. (And lots of older men as well)

The feel good factor:
I am sorry it was not that good. If you like to pay top prices for very average food in a noisy place I give it a maximum of a 2 glass rating, it is just over rated. If you like to be seen in an up market restaurant and dress to the 9s no problem.
